Installation

Windows Director 11

Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.x32' and the 'Buddy API Help.chm' files into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder.

If you are planning to also make Macintosh projectors, then place the 'baMac.x32' file into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder. Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.cpio' file from the Macintosh Buddy API 4 download into the Director\Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Macintosh\Xtras folder. Open the xtrainfo.txt file in the Director\Configuration folder and add this line to the bottom of the file:

[#namePPC:"Buddy API Xtra", #nameW32:"Buddy API Xtra.x32"]

The baMac.x32 file is a Windows xtra that contains all the Buddy functions that are Mac only, eg baGestalt. This allows you to author the Mac only functions on a Windows system. The xtra itself does nothing and should not be distributed.

Windows Director MX2004

Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.x32' file and the 'Buddy API Help.chm' into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder (the Director\Xtras folder for versions earlier than MX2004)

If you are planning to also make Macintosh projectors, then place the 'baMac.x32' file into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder. You will need to download the 1.7 version of Macintosh Buddy API and place the 'Buddy API OSX Xtra.rsrc' and 'Buddy API OSX Xtra.data' files into the Director\Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Macintosh\Xtras folder. Open the xtrainfo.txt file in the Director\Configuration folder and add this line to the bottom of the file:

[#namePPC:"Buddy API OSX Xtra", #nameW32:"Buddy API Xtra.x32"]

Windows Authorware

Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.x32' file and the 'Buddy API Help.chm' into the Authorware\Xtras folder.

Macintosh Director 11

Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.xtra' file into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder. Place the 'Buddy API.help' file into the /Library/Documentation/Help folder. If you prefer, you can use the Windows Help file if you have a CHM viewer ( eg http://chmox.sourceforge.net) installed. In this case, place the 'Buddy API Help.chm' file into the same folder as the xtra.

If you are planning to also make Windows projectors, then place the 'baWin.xtra' file into the Director\Configuration\Xtras folder. Place the 'Buddy API Xtra.x32' file from the Windows Buddy API 4 download into the Director\Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Windows\Xtras folder. Open the xtrainfo.txt file in the Director\Configuration folder and add this line to the bottom of the file:

[#namePPC:"Buddy API Xtra", #nameW32:"Buddy API Xtra.x32"]

The baWin.xtra file is a Macintosh xtra that contains all the Buddy functions that are Windows only, eg baReadRegString. This allows you to author the Windows only functions on a Macintosh system. The xtra itself does nothing and should not be distributed.
